At CES 2010, Sony has revealed more about its PS3 firmware upgrade to 3D stereoscopic capability.
The first Sony Bravia 3D TV’s will appear in the “summertime” and it sounds like Sony can upgrade the PS3 to stereoscopic 3D via a firmware update. The 3D televisions will be HDMI 1.4 enabled systems and the PS3, after the firmware update, will be 1.4 capable too. Presumably the TV’s will be 120Hz, and each alternating image will be 60Hz, to build a 3-D image. The firmware update will presumably apply to both PS3 games and movies on Blu Ray discs.
Don Mesa, Senior Product Marketing Manage for Sony Computer Entertainment America interviewed at CES 2010.
